This week, according to a previous plan, I would’ve posted a blog about my visit to Trider’s brewery in Amherst. Since I met them a few weeks ago things have changed. These days, more than ever, we all realize how much supporting our local economy is important, and how food security can affect every single one of us.

Today’s blog is a reminder of some of the local goods and food services offered in our county.

Easter is coming up, the sap is running, and to my knowledge our local Maple Producers are busy making syrup, sugar, and treats. What better time to give them a call and see how you can get your hands on some of those maple bunnies.

You can find a listing of some local maple producers on our website. Click on Maple Syrup in the category box.

All producers can be reached by phone, some through Facebook.

For fresh farm organic produce, Wysmykal Farm has been working hard to accommodate their customers, offering home deliveries every Saturday in the Amherst and Sackville area. For a list of available goods on any given week visit their Facebook page or their newly created Online Store.

You can also give them a call at : 902-661-3663

Broadfork Farm is also working hard to provide you with organically grown fresh produce. While they are not ready for sale do read their latest Blog Post and sign up for their newsletter for further updates. (Sign up is at the very bottom of the blog post page)

You may consider signing up for a CSA box this year. If so, I’d advise to do it sooner than later.

Are you looking for local seeds to start your own garden? La Finquita Seeds may have what you need. You can reach Silvana at : 902-257-2428

Looking for meat, Nicnat Farm does deliveries on Thursdays in Amherst. You will find weekly deals on their Facebook Page , or call them for special orders at: 902-664-6117

Much more food and food related services are featured on our website. Do reach out to see how you can support and be supported.
